Synchronization will allow you to view your Mailbox contents when you are offline, and do not
have Internet access.
**In order to proceed, Outlook 2000 must have been installed with Offline folder access. This is
done by answering “Yes” to the question “Do you travel with your computer?” the first time you
configure Outlook 2000. If the question was answered no, you will not see any of the
synchronization options, and must uninstall Outlook. Then reinstall answering “Yes” to the above
question when asked.
To setup synchronization follow the below procedure:
- From within Outlook select Tools and click Options.
*If you do not see Options click the double arrow to expand the menu.
- Select the Mail Services tab.
- Click the Enable offline access check box. Select When online, synchronize
all folders upon exiting check box.
- Your screen should look similar to the image below, click Ok.
You have completed enabling synchronization. As of now, your basic folders will be synchronized
when you exit Outlook.
As you see in the below image, the folders with the blue plus sign to the left of their icons are
being synchronized.
Note that you can further customize your synchronization settings by selecting Tools ->
Synchronization -> Offline Folder settings. Use this menu to determine which of your folders
you would like to synchronize. As in the image below, simply put a check mark to the left of
the Folder. Use your discretion as to which folders you would like available offline.
