Enabling Authenticate on Send

(or sending e-mail when you aren’t connected through On-net)

Our wonderful mail server under normal circumstances only allows people who are dialed in to us send mail through our server. Thus preventing spamming. To send mail while connected through AOL, another ISP, or other non-On-net source (DSL, Cable Modem, etc) you must enable “Authenticate on Send”.

Outlook Express
In Outlook express click the Tools menu and select Accounts.

Select the Mail Tab and select Properties.

Click the Servers Tab.
My server requires Authentication check box for the Outgoing Mail Server:

Click Close.

Netscape Communicator 4.x
In Netscape 4.x select the Edit menu.
Click Preferences.

Select Mail and Newsgroups click Mail Servers.
Set the username in the Outgoingmail server username field as the On-net email address without the “@onet.net”.
Set the option button below to If Possible.

Click OK.
